Relai Extension · Last updated June 12, 2026
Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how the Relai Extension (the “Extension”), offered by Relai, collects, uses, and stores information when sellers use it with Relai Auction at therelaiapp.com.
The Extension has one purpose: to read public live-auction winner information from Whatnot or eBay Live and send it to the seller’s Relai vault desk so the seller can manage their show.
Information the Extension accesses
On Whatnot or eBay Live, when a lot sells, the Extension reads publicly visible information on the live stream page: buyer display username, lot or product title, category label, and sale price. For optional giveaway detection, it may read a brief “won the giveaway” toast message on the same page.
On therelaiapp.com, the Extension receives a linking handshake from the seller’s vault desk (vault ID, API base URL, and scraper token) only when the seller clicks Open Whatnot or similar actions in their Relai account.
The Extension does not collect browsing history, passwords, payment card numbers, or data from websites other than Whatnot, eBay Live (live streams), and therelaiapp.com.
Information stored locally on your device
The Extension stores configuration and state in Chrome storage on your device, including: API base URL, vault ID, scraper token, scraping enabled/paused state, label and HUD preferences, cached CSS selector rules (plain text strings), and recent sync/print status.
This local data is used to operate the Extension and is not sold to third parties.
Information transmitted to Relai
When a lot sells and the seller has linked the Extension, winner data is sent over HTTPS to the seller’s Relai server (typically https://therelaiapp.com) using a per-vault Bearer token the seller obtains from their Relai account.
Transmitted fields may include: buyer display name, external lot number, stream category label, stream product title, sale price, platform identifier, and a client event ID for deduplication.
The Extension also fetches CSS selector rules as JSON from the Relai API so it can read winner and lot elements when Whatnot or eBay updates their page layout. These rules are text selectors only — not executable code.
Optional QZ Tray signing requests may call public Relai endpoints for certificate and signature data when the seller enables QZ label printing.
Optional features
Tab capture: If the seller enables desk camera preview, the Extension may obtain a media stream ID for an open Whatnot tab and pass it to the seller’s Relai desk tab. Video stays in the browser; the Extension does not upload stream video to Relai servers by default.
Label printing: If enabled, buyer username and bin/item label data may be sent to the seller’s local printer via browser print, QZ Tray on localhost, a USB serial offscreen worker, or the optional Relai Print Bridge native helper installed separately on the seller’s computer. Print Bridge communication stays on the local machine.
What we do not do
We do not sell Extension data to advertisers or data brokers.
We do not load or execute remote JavaScript. All Extension code is packaged in the Chrome Web Store install.
We do not access pages outside the host permissions declared in the Extension manifest (Whatnot, eBay Live, and therelaiapp.com).
Data retention
Local Extension storage persists until the seller clears it, uninstalls the Extension, or uses disconnect/end-show flows in Relai.
Winner data retained on Relai servers is governed by the seller’s use of Relai Auction and their Relai account settings.
Children
The Extension is intended for business sellers using Relai Auction and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy when the Extension or applicable law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision.
